Ukraine's grain inventories show decrease
Grain inventories in Ukraine on June 1 totalled six million tonnes, 28% less than a year earlier, according to the state statistics committee.
Wheat stocks on the date totalled 3.1 million tonnes, barley 1.1 million tonnes, corn one million tonnes, and rye 500,000 tonnes.
Grain stocks held by farmers on the date totalled 2.5 million tonnes, 22% less than a year earlier, including one million tonnes of wheat, 600,000 tonnes of barley, 500,000 tonnes of corn and 100,000 tonnes of rye. The rest of the grain was held by storage and processing enterprises.
In 2009, Ukraine harvested 46 million tonnes of grain in clean weight, 14% less than in 2008.
