Space 2009 to show animal breeding sector at its best
The SPACE 2009 trade fair will play host to the cattle (dairy and meat), pig, poultry, sheep, goat and rabbit breeding sectors, both French and international, from 15 to 18 September 2009. The event will be held in Rennes, in western France, in one of Europe's major multi-species breeding regions. There will be a particular focus on the Salers and Simmental cattle breeds during the show.
SPACE 2009 will take place in 11 halls over 10 hectares, with an emphasis on technical innovation. The trade show will also offer visitors the opportunity to visit farms and agro-industrial companies in the sector. High-level conferences, competitions and animal auctions will be on offer for the expected 110,000 visitors, including 9,000 international visitors.
SPACE is the leading international event for cattle breeding, and the 2009 show will showcase more than 800 carefully selected head of cattle from 12 different breeds - both permanently and during competitions. Sheep and goat breeds will also be presented. Additionally, there will be an area dedicated to R&D.
The various exhibitors will tackle a range of topics that will include the improvement of genetic performances, artificial insemination and hatcheries; improved technical performance (in feed and animal health, for example); the modernisation of agricultural properties (software, management advice and agro-energy); the improvement of working conditions for breeders; the design and construction of buildings; and work on conforming to latest standards (septic tanks and spreading material).
The Club International will offer special assistance to international visitors. Guides will provide assistance to international visitors in a range of languages, helping visitors to gather information and arrange meetings with exhibitors or international partners. International visitors will be offered exclusive visits to farms and agro-industrial units in the region: animal-feed factories, milk quality-control centres, cattle (beef and dairy), pig, poultry and rabbit farms.
As always, the Innov'Space competition will reward the most innovative products, equipment and services of the animal breeding sector. In 2008, 47 entrants were awarded this prize.
SPACE 2009, the leading European trade show for the animal breeding sector, will take place from 15 to 18 September 2009 in Rennes, in Brittany (in western France).
