Ukraine eyes record level of grain ending stocks in 2011-12 season
At the 11th international conference "Grain Forum-2012" on June 8, Rodion Rybchinskiy, Head of the business-projects department of APK-Inform Agency said that Ukraine expects to receive the record level of grain ending stocks of over 12.8 million tonnes in 2011-12 marketing year.
He noted that in 2010-11 marketing year (MY) the volume of grain ending stocks totalled nearly five million tonnes, in 2009-10 MY - 3.5 million tonnes, in 2008-09 MY - 4.55 million tonnes.
According to the expert, the current season faces an increase of the average grain production of 30% during the recent five-year period.
Besides, the market faced an increase of grain exports during the five-year period by 29% and a change of its structure. Thus, in 2007-08, 2011-12 MY the main countries-importers were Saudi Arabia (14% of the general exports), Egypt (12%), Spain (10%), Iran (6%), Israel (6%), Syria (5%), South Korea (4%), Tunisia (4%), Bangladesh (4%).
As a reminder, on June 6, 2012, the 11th international conference "Grain Forum - 2012", organized by APK-Inform Agency, began its work in Yalta. The event was supported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Grain Association.
The conference ended its work on June 8, 2012, in Yalta at the hotel Palmira Palace.
