UK's Faroe Seafood expands sales operations

Faroe Seafood has significantly revamped its operations in the Faroe Islands where there has been a large increase in both company fish landings and in production capacity.

Torkil Davidsen has been named as head of operations for the UK, succeeding Birgir Kass, who has taken up a senior sales position at head office.

Davidsen has been based at the Grimsby office in a sales and logistics role for four years and prior to that worked for the company in the Faroe Islands in various roles for eight years.

New to Faroe Seafood UK is Nigel Taylor, who has been appointed head of frozen fish sales, he will be managing the established Booker and Makro accounts, whilst commencing the development of new business with frozen food wholesalers, catering buying groups and retailers.

Both appointments are a response to increased landings on the islands where Faroe Seafood has generated huge increases in its processing capacity.

Several factories have moved to two-shift production, improving both efficiency and cost effectiveness.

Faroe Seafood is currently annually processing 4,000 tonnes of wild cod, 2,000 tonnes of haddock, 1,000 tonnes of ling and 1,000 tonnes of other species.
