Poultry helps Thai agricultural sector to expand 5.3 percent in first quarter
Thailand's agricultural sector has grown 5.3 percent in the first quarter of 2007, thanks to growth in its poultry products.
Even though the baht has appreciated, prices were able to remain high and exports grew due to demand on the world market.
Thailand's Agricultural Office expects that the country's agricultural sector would grow further by 4-5 percent throughout the rest of 2007.
Its report said Thailand has developed an efficient logistics network nationwide for swift distribution of poultry products to local and international markets. This was complemented by the continual improvement in quality from local producers.
