National beef acquires Brawley Beef

National Beef Packing Co LLC, and its majority owner, US Premium Beef LLC, have acquired Brawley Beef LLC.

The acquisition results in Brawley contributing its assets in exchange for an ownership interest in US Premium Beef, LLC.

Brawley Beef's location near San Diego, California and its extensive network of customers along the west coast, would enable National Beef to expand its presence in the western US, said John Miller, National Beef CEO.

As part of the acquisition, National Beef will own and operate the Brawley Beef processing facility in Brawley, California constructed in 2001. The facility is capable of processing more than 400,000 cattle annually.
