Brazilian soy sales edge up on firm prices
Sales of Brazil's record 73.6 million-tonnes soy crop were ahead of those completed by this time last year, as international prices and the local currency remained firm, analysts said on Monday (Jun 13).
Producer's sales of the current crop stood at 70% by June 10, up from 64% in the previous crop by this time last year. Harvest of the current crop ended in May.
Sales of the crop were on par with historical averages, however.
Brazilis the world's second biggest soy producer and exporter, after the US, and harvested a record 68.5 million tonnes of soy in 2009-10.
