Vietnam's Hai Duong gets clear of blue-ear pig disease
Hai Duong's Thanh Ha, Thanh Mien, Kinh Mon, Ninh Giang and Chi Linh, have been recently declared free of blue-ear pig disease.
The announcement was made by Nguyen Trong Thua, Chairman of the Hai Duong provincial People's Committee, on June 10.
Provincial authorities are working closely with relevant agencies to implement measures against the epidemic.
According to Dong Van Chuc, Head of the Hai Duong provincial Animal Health Agency, tough measures are being implemented to prevent new outbreaks of the pig disease. The four districts of Tu Ky, Binh Giang, Cam Giang and Gia Loc, are expected to soon be declared free of the epidemic.
Hai Duong culled nearly 7,400 sick pigs, with a total weight of almost 237,000 kilogrammes, when the blue-ear disease hit the province's 65 communes.
