USDA revises up grain production forecast for Ukraine

 
 

The USDA has increased the forecast of grain production in Ukraine in 2010 by two million tonnes, to the level of 45 million tonnes.

 

Wheat production is forecasted at the level of 20 million tonnes (up 0.5 million tonnes compared to the previous forecast). In the 2010/11 marketing year (MY), export volumes of the grain will probably total 7.5 million tonnes.

 

USDA increased the forecast production volumes of feed grains by 1.5 million tonnes, to the level of 24.95 million tonnes. Corn production is forecasted at the level of 13 million tonnes. In the 2010/11 MY, export volumes of the grain will probably total 5.5 million tonnes.

 

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine forecasted grain production in Ukraine at the level of 46-47 million tonnes. In the 2010/11 MY, grain exports from the country is estimated at the level of 22-24 million tonnes.
