EU to lift ban on China's processed poultry
The European Commission announced Wednesday (Jun 13) it would soon be lifting the ban on China's processed poultry imports.
The decision was made at the trade talks between Chinese Commerce Minister Bo Xilai and EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson on Tuesday.
However, no date has been set as to when the ban would be lifted. The European Commission would have to go through a meeting of representatives from all EU member states for their approval of the proposal.
The EU banned China's processed poultry after China reported bird flu outbreaks in 2004.
The EU already accepts processed poultry from Thailand, where bird flu cases have occurred as well.
