Global milk exports to rise over next 10 years
Over the next 10 years, demand from developing countries like India and China will drive higher exports of milk from Europe, the US, New Zealand, Australia and Argentina.
This is according to a new report from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The OECD/FAO Outlook for Agriculture 2013-2022, published on Thursday (Jun 6), predicts that global milk production will continue to increase, albeit at a slower rate in the next decade.
While developing countries are expected to generate 74% of global milk production gains over the next decade, dairy consumption in those countries is projected to grow faster than production.
