Vietnam's seafood exhibition kicks off in Ho Chi Minh

The Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition (Vietfish) opened yesterday (June 12, 2008) in Ho Chi Minh City, with as many as 128 Vietnamese and international companies as exhibitors.

Half of the exhibition's 224 stalls feature seafood products.

Luong Le Phuong, deputy minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that Vietnam has become one of the top ten seafood producing countries and ranks third in the world in terms of aquaculture and sixth in terms of seafood processing and exports.

During the opening ceremony, the Vietfish organisers presented 20 gold medals to high quality seafood products.

Vietfish will run from June 12-14, featuring seminars on seafood export to the US market, frozen storage and industrial refrigeration compressors.
