Vietnam inks agreement with Panama on agricultural cooperation

Vietnam and Panama agricultural ministers signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on agricultural cooperation in Hanoi on Monday (June 9, 2008).

The two countries agreed to focus priority on fisheries and grains.

Cao Duc Phat, minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that because Vietnam and Panama lie on close parallel latitudes they have similar agricultural plants, which is favourable for technical exchanges between the two countries.

The MoU is seen to encourage further bilateral cooperation in agriculture and related fields among scientists, agricultural research and development institutions.
