Australia live cattle exports in April up 17 percent on-year
   
  

Australian live cattle exports in April rose 17 percent on-year to 57,110 head due to strong demand from Indonesia.
 

Indonesia remained as top destination for Australian live cattle, importing 38,912 head, up 17 percent on-year.

 

Cattle availability increased due to a wet season in Australia's central Northern Territory. In April, nearly 20,000 cattle were sourced out of the Northern Territory, up 74 percent on-year.

 

Mexico was the second largest market, importing 7,503 dairy cattle at a value of AU$1,504 (US$1,414) per head, with its cattle coming from Portland, Victoria.

 

In addition, Israel imported 2,975 head of Australian cattle; Turkey 1,970 head; Japan 1,840 head and Malaysia imported 1,824 head.
