Soft demand, rising supply exert pressure on China methionine market
Prices of methionine weakened further during the week ending June 9.
Trade remained limited in the methionine market as poultry feed producers withheld purchases. While the prices of egg and broilers continued to move lower, feed millers, who were pessimistic about the outlook of the poultry market, were reluctant to produce in abundance.
For liquid methionine, price quotes remained at RM37-38/kg.
Methionine prices are expected to stay soft due to rising availability and sluggish poultry feed demand.
