Finland's pig farms' number likely down 50% by 2025

As the price of feed is expected to go down, the number of pig farms may be halved in Finland by 2025, according to Pro Agria, an agricultural expert organisation.

The year 2011 was one of the worst for pig farms. Financial problems also reduced farms' investments.  The pig farming Directive that is to enter into force in the beginning of 2013 may speed up the structural change.

Some farms in Finland will not be making the required changes.
