French wheat exports drop 9 percent to 11.7 million tonnes

 

 

Soft wheat exports by France fell nine percent year on year in the first 10 months of the (July-June) 2006/07 campaign, to 11.7 million tonnes, customs data showed on Monday (June 11).

 

Sales to other European Union countries as of May 1 were down 10 percent year on year at 6.9 million tonnes, whereas those outside the EU-27 bloc fell 6 percent to 4.8 million.

 

Algeria remained the top destination for French wheat with 2.08 million tonnes, up 28 percent year on year.

 

Customs data also showed barley shipments gained 7 percent at 4.2 million tonnes -- including 746,000 tonnes outside the EU bloc, up 25 percent year on year -- while corn exports fell 8 percent to 4.8 million tonnes.
