Russia's poultry imports take a nosedive

Russia imported 70,900 tonnes of poultry meat worth US$103.4 million in the January-April period, down 68% from the 220,100 tonnes worth US$240.2 million imported in the same period last year.

The drop was attributable to the halt in US chicken imports over Russia's ban on importing poultry treated with chlorine.

Imports of beef and pork, however, increased to 313,300 tonnes worth US$992 million in the January-April period from 284,100 tonnes worth US$933.6 million in the same period a year ago.
