Vietnamese seafood companies seek export boost
Ten seafood firms in Vietnam are seeking to increase pangasius exports to Mexico at Alimetaria Mexico 2010, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.
The annual International Food, Beverage and Equipment Exhibition, lasting for three days from June 1 to 3, attracted the participation of food and beverage groups from 21 countries in the world, including Italy, Spain, France, the US, Russia, Thailand and India.
Vietnam has taken the lead in supplying pangasius to Mexico, exporting 28,231 tonnes worth US$58.776 million in 2009, up from US$55.6 million in 2008; US$45 million in 2007; US$32.9 million in 2006; US$17.55 million in 2005; and US$9.9 million in 2004, according to the Mexican Ministry of Economy.
