Australia April-end grain stocks -11.6 percent at 10.6 million tonnes

 

 

The total grain stored by Australian bulk handlers and users at the end of April fell 11.6 percent on- month by 1.4 million tonnes to 10.6 million tonnes, the government's Bureau of Statistics reported Tuesday (June 9).

 

Wheat stocks held by bulk handlers at April 30 stood at 10.1 million tonnes, of which 7.8 million tonnes were milling wheat and the remainder graded for feed wheat.

 

Wheat stored by wheat grain users at the end of April fell 10.4 percent from 540,000 tonnes in March.

 

The bureau estimated total wheat use in April at 2.1 million tonnes, falling 13.6percent on- month, and domestic usage of 389,000 tonnes, down 6,000 tonnes on month.

 

Wheat committed for domestic use or export on April 30 was 4.2 million tonnes, down 17.6 percent from the March estimate of 5.1 million tonnes.

 

Of the total wheat grain committed in Australia, 3.3 million tonnes, or 78.9 percent, were contracted for export, and 900,000 tonnes, or 21.1 percent, for domestic use.
