US scientists undertake research to develop cancer-fighting chicken
Scientists at Ohio State University's Comprehensive Cancer Centre are researching a system that would turn chicken into a cancer-fighting food.
By mixing chicken feed with a plant extract in cotton called gossypol, the scientists aim to turn chicken meat and eggs into cancer-fighting food, HealthNewsDigest.com reported.
According to Michael Caliguiri, director of the center and CEO of Ohio State University's James Cancer Hospital, under experimental systems, gossypol was found to have slowed human breast cancer tissue as much as 94 percent when put onto humans directly.
For safety reasons, the extract can be mixed in with chicken feed and the chicken's meat to be consumed by humans so as to allow for a slower but safer way of absorption.
