EU soft wheat export licenses up 287,000 tonnes on week
The European Union granted export licenses for 287,000 tonnes of soft wheat for the week ended June 2, according to data published Friday (June 5).
This takes total soft wheat export licenses 49 weeks into the 2008-09 marketing year to 20.34 million tonnes, up sharply from 8.5 million tonnes over the same period the previous year.
Grain export licenses for the first 49 weeks of the 2008-09 marketing year are 28.49 million tonnes, up from 17.46 million tonnes over the same period the previous year, due to a bumper crop.
Meanwhile, grain import licenses are down sharply on the year at 10.77 million tonnes, compared with 26.04 million tonnes the previous year.
