New standards issued by Japan for imports of certain Chinese aqua products

According to the Inspection and Quarantine Bureau in Fujian province (southern China), Japan's Ministry of Health and Welfare had announced a new set of standards on enrofloxacin and ciprofloxacin residuals for certain classes of Chinese aquaculture products, effective May 30.

Under the new ruling, permitted residual levels of enrofloxacin (including ciprofloxacin) found in ready-to-grill processed eel products as well as crucian carps, softshell turtles and their processed products, are set at below 0.01 parts per million.
