Thailand holds shrimp fairs as oversupply causes price plunge

 

 

Thailand is organizing a series of shrimp fairs to encourage the eating of shrimps amongst the population as oversupply are causing steep drops in prices this year.

 

The Blue Flag shrimp fairs, to be held at seven leading stores in the nation, were initiated by the Department of Internal Trade (DIT) in aid of farmers, Siriphol Yodmuangcharoen, Director-General of the department said.

 

The seven stores include Makro, Tesco Lotus, Justco, Big C, Carrefour, Tops Supermarket, and Foodland and would be held from June 7th - 30th. DIT has also called for restaurants to create more shrimp dishes.
