Bangladesh and Uganda to forge ties in agriculture
Bangladesh and Uganda have agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on agricultural cooperation between the two countries, with potential areas ranging from knowledge sharing to the leasing of agricultural land.
This was proposed when Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dipu Moni had meetings with Ugandan State Minister for Foreign Affairs Isaac Isanga Musumba and State Minister for Agriculture Aggrey Henry Bagiire in Kampala, Uganda on Tuesday (Jun 1).
Dipu Moni is in Kampala to attend the Review Conference of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
A release of the Foreign Ministry said agricultural cooperation in the form of sharing of experience, technology, seed, etc. featured prominently in the meetings.
Uganda agreed to propose a draft MOU on agricultural cooperation to be signed between the two countries. It was agreed that Bangladesh would send a delegation to Uganda to finalise the MOU. The two sides also agreed to examine the possibility of Uganda leasing out agricultural land to investors from Bangladesh for agricultural farming.
