China live hog production continues rapid growth amid rise in global pork production
Growth in the production of live hogs in China was rapid in the first quarter of 2005, coinciding with an increase in global pork production, and leading to rising prices. Benefits from hog production were remarkable, fuelling enthusiasm to breed live hogs. Prices of live hogs and pork increased compared with Q1 2004. The range of price increase in the consumption areas was slightly higher than the production areas.
