Hawaii Pork Production Down 7%

 

Commercial pork production during April 2004 totaled 344,000 pounds, 7 percent lower than the 369,000 pounds logged in the same month a year ago.

 

The Hawaii Agricultural Statistics Service reports total hog kill of 2,300 head was unchanged from a year ago.

 

Average live weight per head, at 196 pounds, was 8 percent lighter than a year ago.

 

On the mainland, pork productiopn for the same month was 4 percent above year-before levels and average live weight held steady from year-before levels.
