Feedlogic introduces BarnSense wireless sensor system

Feedlogic Corporation, a major developer of intelligent solutions for livestock production, has introduced BarnSense, a wireless sensor platform for remote monitoring and reporting from livestock production plants.

The new system operates on a wireless "mesh" network, enabling sensor platforms in multiple buildings to be connected to a main communication hub.

Developed with an interface linked to Feedlogic's MyFarm web service, BarnSense gives barn owners and managers flexibility in monitoring temperature, humidity, water usage, propane or natural gas usage, manure levels, and gas levels (CO/CO2, methane, H2S, etc) at a livestock facility. It can be connected with digital, analog, or pulse type sensors.

The platform permits customisation of sensor reading frequency and reporting to individual sites. It also features an intelligent alerting system which sends notifications on sites to multiple users.

BarnSense stores sensor information in an online database, facilitating quick access to history for diagnostics or data analytics. In addition, the platform's open database architecture can easily be integrated with third-party software or hardware, an advantage which allows barn owners and integrators to receive data in preferred formats.
