EU's Sustainable Cotton Production project begins in Pakistan
The EU-imposed project Sustainable Cotton Production for Pakistan (SPRING) by the World Wide Fund for Nature, Pakistan (WWF-P) has started its operation with a four-week long Cotton Selector Training Course in Sukkur.
The SPRING project was launched by the EU, under its regional initiative for Asia - Switch Asia, on March 30, 2012 in Sukkur, Bahawalpur and Rahimyar Khan regions of Pakistan.
The training programme was organised by WWF-P Sukkur, in collaboration with Pakistan Cotton Standard Institute (PCSI), for Switch Asia - SPRING ginners.
The one-month long training was held last month under capacity building workshop on cotton selection and grading for ginners at Switch Asia - SPRING project office in Sukkur.
Eighteen of the 33 candidates who successfully completed the training were sponsored by Switch Asia - SPRING Sukkur.
The candidates learnt selection and grading of seed cotton as well as lint cotton during their training.
