China's 2012 soy imports seen to reach 56 million tonnes
This year, the soy imports of China are projected to attain 56 million tonnes, breaking the previous record of 54.8 million tonnes in 2010, a Chinese leading commodity data provider www.100ppi.com published on Monday (Jun 4).
The country would likely continue to see rise of soy imports over the coming several years, 100ppi noted.
China's robust demand for imported soy is mainly ascribed to inadequate supply of homegrown soy as well as higher oil yield of imported soy and lower import prices, according to the data provider.
