US soy shipments slump by 27 percent
The export of US soy totalled 282,400 tonnes on May 23 - 39, down by 27 percent from the previous week and 25 percent from the prior 4-week average, the USDA said.
The major destinations were China with 120,300 tonnes, Mexico with 68,800 tonnes and Japan with 30,800 tonnes.
During the period, net sales of soy in the US was 298,600 tonnes, up 22 percent from the previous week and 37 percent from the prior 4-week average.
Increases were primarily for China with 225,300 tonnes, Japan with 20,900 tonnes and Taiwan with 10,800 tonnes.
