Price hike slows in China methionine market

Prices of methionine were stable to higher during the week ending June 4.

Demands for methionine remained stable as feed millers were concerned that supplies might tighten while one major producer halted price releases. However, as several buyers have stocked inventories previously, price hikes slowed during the period in review.

Price quotes of imported dl-methionine were in the range of RMB26.80-27.80/kg.

Poultry population is expected to grow further as broiler and layer producers rebuild inventories, lending support to the methionine market.

RMB1=US$0.1633 (Jun 5)
