China harvests 9.8 million hectares of wheat
China has harvested 9.8 million hectares of wheat as of Sunday, accounting for 40 percent of the country's total wheat planting areas, said the Ministry of Agriculture Tuesday.
Of that amount, Henan province, China's largest wheat producing region, harvested 2.82 million hectares of wheat, or 56 percent of the wheat it planted, said the ministry.
Shandong province, another major wheat producing region, harvested 178,900 hectares of wheat it planted, or 5 percent of the total it planted, according to the statement.
There will be more rain in some wheat producing regions in the coming days, which is not favourable for the harvest, it said.
