Bin Salem GTE launches plant to produce caviar
Bin Salem GTE, a group of trading companies in Abu Dhabi in the UAE, has launched a Dh200 million (US$54 million) project to produce Caviar in the Abu Dhabi Industrial city.
The caviar would be produced in accordance to international standards and rules and in coordination with United Food Technologies, AG Germany, who specialises in live fish aquaculture plants.
An agreement has been signed by Ahmad Mohd Salem Al Dhaheri, CEO of Bin Salem GTE, and C. Hartung, the CEO of United Food Technologies AG, Germany .
Al Dhaheri said that this project is considered the first of its kind and unique in the Middle East and northern African markets and shall meet the shortfall in demand.
The first phase of the project would be built on a 57,000-square metre plot of land in Abu Dhabi Industrial city and would be completed in 16 months.
Production capacity is estimated to be around 32 tonnes a year of Osietra high quality Caviar and about 693 tonnes of high quality fish products sliced & smoked to be marketed locally, in Europe and the US.
