UAE imposes partial ban on poultry from Denmark

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) banned on Saturday (Jun 3) all poultry imports from the Danish town of Fion where cases of bird flu were reported.

Dr Mohammed Saeed Al Kindi, Minister of Environment and Water, said the ministry's animal health department would work with other authorities concerned to enforce the ban.

The ban was imposed after the World Animal Health Organization announced the appearance of the bird flu in the Danish town.

The minister said the ban is to prevent infiltration of any infectious diseases into the country and to ensure health safety of both the public and animals.
