China imports 2.152 million tonnes cotton in Q1 2012
From January to April 2012, China imported 2.152 million tonnes of cotton, which is 86.2% higher on-year.
The import value was US$4.92 billion, growing 49.5%.
The imports of edible oilseeds was 19.393 million tonnes, up 26.5%; the import value was US$10.56 billion, up 17.1%; the exports of the product was 357,000 tonnes, up 1.9%; the export value was US$610 million, up 17.6%.
The imports of edible vegetable oil was 2.63 million tonnes, up 22.3%; the import value was US$2.97 billion, up 22.7%; the exports of the products was 42,000 tonnes, up 20.4%; the export value was US$70.941 million, up 19.6%.
The imports of meal (a kind of feed or fertiliser) was 378,000 tonnes, down 52.9%; the import value was US$84.502 million, down 66.6%; the exports was 265,000 tonnes, up 36.8%; the export value was US$10,000, up 28%.
