Canada negotiates access to Ukraine on swine exports

Canadian Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz said on Thursday (May 31) that the country has negotiated access to Ukraine for its exports of live swine and swine genetics.

Canada previously had access for live swine to Ukraine, but the countries negotiated new terms to address Ukraine's recently revised import requirements. Ukraine currently imports CAD4.5 million (US$4.3 million) worth of purebred swine.

It is the first time Canadian swine genetics, which are biological material used to breed pigs, have had access to Ukraine.
