Hanoi's fresh food prices soar on blue-ear disease fear

 
 

Prices of fresh food at Hanoi market have seen fluctuation due to the spread of blue-ear pig epidemic, said Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade.

 

Consumers' concerns led to sharp decrease of pork consumption. Meanwhile, there has been increasing demand of other foods like beef, chicken, shrimp and fish, pushing the prices up.

 

At present, the carps see VND5,000 (US$0.26) increase per kilogramme, and snake-head fish prices go up by VND10,000 (US$0.53) per kg.
