Russia urges Vietnam to minimise ice-plated ratio in seafood
Vietnamese firms must minimise the ice-plated ratio in their seafood products before exporting to Russia, in line with a new regulation to be issued by the Eastern European country late June, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The new regulation requires an ice-plated ratio of 5% at maximum in frozen fish, while the rate in shrimp is 6% and in other kinds of seafood is 8%, the ministry said.
Earlier, Russian importers have complained that the ice-plated ratio in Vietnamese frozen seafood is too high at 30%.
Russia has been considered as a potential market for Vietnamese tra and basa fish with an expected import volume of 40,000 tonnes this year.
