EU initiates agricultural support projects in Tajikistan

The EU in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) have announced the launch of a programme to provide financial assistance to Tajik agriculture.

The head of the EU office in Tajikistan, Eduard Auer, has said that the programmes will support reforms in agricultural structures in Tajikistan.

"The EU intends to give a grant worth EUR5.2 million (US$6.4 million) to implement the programme to provide financial assistance to the Tajik agriculture and a grant of EUR1.5 million (US$1.8 million) for the IFC's project to develop funding for agriculture and improve the business climate in Tajikistan," he added.
