South China Sea declares fishing ban period

The South China Sea will go into the summer fishing ban period from June to August 1st, the Guangdong Provincial Ocean and Fishery Bureau said.

Around 20,000 fishing boats in South China Sea and another 10,000 boats in Guangdong province cannot fish in the area within the mentioned period.

China's fish prices may increase slightly during the ban, an industry observer said.

However, Guangdong's fishery authorities are encouraging enterprises to increase the fish market supply.

Guangdong will take advantage of its cold and fresh fish reserves in summer ban period.
