Ireland's beef exports post gains in 2006

 

 

Beef exports from Ireland has noted an increase by 14 percent last year, figures released in the latest Annual Review and Outlook for Agriculture and Food 2006/2007 show.

 

Other large gains were recorded by the food and drink sectors which included a 26 percent rise in beverages, and 10 percent in prepared foods.

 

Overall the Irish agri-food industry is estimated to account for 9.8 percent total exports, 8.1 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) and 8.1 per cent of employment.
