Ukraine boosts grain exports
Ukraine has exported 20.2 million tonnes of grain crops since the start of the 2009/2010 marketing year (July 2009-June 2010).
As previously reported, Ukraine exported about 850,000 tonnes of grain in May 2010, twice less against on-year. The country exported 230,000 tonnes of wheat, 340,000 tonnes of barley and about 280,000 tonnes of corn.
According to experts, the total export of grain crops of the 2009 harvest totalled 20.2 million tonnes in the 11 months of the current marketing year. In particular, Ukraine exported 8.9 million tonnes of wheat.
In addition, Ukraine exported 5.9 million tonnes of barley and 5.2 million tonnes of corn, with figures for these two crops almost coinciding with those recorded last year. As reported by the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation, grain exports from Ukraine have totalled 19.7 million tonnes as of May 13.
In 2009, the yield of grain crops in Ukraine was 46 million tonnes.
