Sunzen aims to be top feed additives supplier in Malaysia

Sunzen Biotech Bhd - a Malaysian company that produces and markets animal feed additive, is setting its sights on becoming the country's largest feed additives company within three years, according to the New Straits Times.

The company is currently the third biggest player in Malaysia, behind Gladron Chemicals Sdn Bhd and Age D'Or Chemical Sdn Bhd.

The company - which sells its feed additives to 10 countries in Asia, is looking to lay claim to the number one spot through expansion of its overseas market.

It already has markets in India, Taiwan and the Philippines and is hoping to expand into Indonesia and
China, managing director Dr Tan Kim Sing told Business Times in Kota Kemuning recently.

Sunzen was set up when Tan and 10 other shareholders, all former employees of Pfizer Malaysia, bought Pfizer Malaysia's animal health division in 1998.

It started out as the sole distributor of Pfizer animal health products and now researches, develops and markets its own feed additives while maintaining sole distributorship.

According to Tan, the company's strength lies in its self- developed non-antibiotic feed additives, under the brand Orgacids. Since antibiotics have been banned in developed countries and more countries are banning its use in animal feeds, the company is well-positioned to tap future markets, he added.
