Uruguay cattle slaughter hits new record high

Uruguay slaughtered a record of 67,231 head of cattle last week, with cows making up 49.3 percent of the total.

Despite the rising supplies, Uruguayan cattle prices continue to be sky high.

The record slaughter was due to robust global demand, high prices and demand from both Russia and the EU, which currently has a partial ban on Brazilian beef imports.
