US corn shipments soar 44 percent on-week
US exports of corn during May 16 - 22, 2008 surged by 44 percent on-week at 1.07 million tonnes, 17 percent over the prior 4-week average, the USDA said.
The primary destinations were Japan, South Korea and Mexico.
During the period, net sales of corn in the US stood at 477,400 million tonnes, 6 percent below the previous week and 2 percent under the prior 4-week average.
Increased shipments to Japan, Venezuela and Mexico were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations, South Korea and Israel, the USDA reported.
