Vietnam's Q1 seafood exports to Russia expand by 30 percent

Vietnamese seafood exports to Russia in the first quarter soared by 30 percent on-year, valued at US$60 million, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP) reported.

Russia currently ranks fifth among Vietnam's largest seafood markets, buying almost 10 percent of last year's exports.

Thirty eight Vietnamese seafood firms have received licences to export seafood to Russia.

For quality control, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has strictly forbidden the use of certain chemical additives and sharp commercial practices.

There has been recent boom in demand for dried seafood and white-legged shrimp in Russia, analysts said.
