Cyprus reports carcinogen in milk from feed
Cyprus officials found a carcinogen in unprocessed milk from contaminated animal feed, the agriculture ministry said Friday.
Tests in Cyprus have shown aflatoxin in milk to be above acceptable levels, the ministry said.
Aflatoxins are a toxic fungus and are a carcinogen, which is ingested by cows in contaminated feed and excreted in their milk.
The source was believed to be fodder which had recently been imported to the island, the agriculture ministry disclosed.
