British beef makes its return to French shores

The first shipments of British beef started arriving in France this week, after an absence of ten years.

While the shipment is small compared to previous volumes, Meat and Livestock Commission France director, Rmi Fourrier, is pleased with developments.

Besides regaining former customers in France, there were also new customers making enquiries, Fourrier said.

The organisation is also confident it would capture further orders at a French buyers' meeting next week, adding that French support for the return of British beef has been very encouraging.

Fourrier said he is confident of the long-term prospects for the market.
