Livelihood of Ghana's poultry farmers threatened by high prices of veterinary drugs
According to reports, Ghana's poultry farmers fear that the limited availability of poultry drugs will contribute to their continued price increase, making it difficult to maintain poultry. The few veterinary drug stores that offer poultry drugs also take advantage of the limited supplies and sell them at extremely high prices.
Feedback from a farm spokesperson indicates that Ghanaians prefer imported chicken over domestically bred ones. This, coupled with the high prices of poultry drugs, would seriously affect the businesses of domestic poultry farmers if nothing is done by the government to control the rising prices of poultry drugs.
